Loyola's JV Basketball team improved to 16-1 on the season after an 81-59 victory over Mater Dei at the Los Alamitos Tournament on Friday afternoon (Dec. 28).
The Cubs, currently on a seven-game winning streak, ran out to a 26-16 lead over the Monarchs at the end of the first period and never looked back, taking a 53-31 lead into halftime. Loyola then held Mater Dei to just eight points in the final quarter to sew up the 22-point win.
Sophomore guard Dylan Tracy-Lindenbaum '21 led the Cubs with 19 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting from the field, adding six assists and four rebounds. Sophomore forward Lukas Junn '21 chipped in 16 points of his own, while sophomore center Nick Green '21 filled the stat sheet with 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists and seven steals.
The Cubs advanced to the championship game of the Los Alamitos Tournament, set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 29) against Long Beach Poly on the campus of Los Alamitos HS.
