The Cubs created several offensive opportunities in their back to back wins in the Westcoast Showcase Tourney on Saturday. And despite there being a slow and scoreless first half against Warren, fresh faces and a consistent offense brought heat towards the end of the match.
Throughout the second half junior Malcolm Hawkins led aggressive attacks against Warren High School’s keeper. With 15 minutes left, Hawkins ran the ball from the left side and placed a shot on net. The shot was saved by a persistent Warren High keeper but then rebounded by senior Finn West making the score 1-0. With 12 minutes left, the Cubs maintained their momentum. Senior Dylan Brown took full advantage of a free-kick opportunity but his shot was saved by the keeper. The ball was deflected, and Hawkins saw an opportunity for a goal. The junior drew back and nailed a shot making it 2-0. The cubs played Paramount High later that evening for the tournament final.
