A dominant 14-7 victory over No. 3 seed Oaks Christian in the US Lacrosse Northern Division semifinals propelled the No. 2-seeded Loyola Lacrosse team (15-7) into a fourth-straight title game, where they will face No. 1 seed Palos Verdes (19-2) for the city crown. The championship game will take place on Wednesday (May 8) at Westlake HS in Thousand Oaks and is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
The Cubs are looking to exact revenge on the Seakings, who defeated Loyola back on Apr. 16 by a score of 15-8 in Palos Verdes. Coming off of a thrilling Mission League Championship victory the game prior, the Cubs came out of the gates slow and could not catch up to the home team in that non-league matchup.
The postseason series history between Loyola and Palos Verdes is extensive, with the Cubs having won the last three US Lacrosse Northern Division titles (2016, 2017, 2018). All three of those meetings saw the Cubs defeat the Seakings, including last year’s 9-5 victory. Palos Verdes won the title back in 2014 and 2015 before Loyola claimed the next three championships.
