After routing No. 7 seed Mira Costa, 14-4, last night at Smith Field, the No. 2-seeded Loyola Lacrosse team (14-7) will face No. 3 seed Oaks Christian (15-3) in the US Lacrosse Northern Division semifinals. The match will be played at Culver City HS on Saturday (May 4) at 5 p.m., with the Cubs looking to advance to next week’s championship.
Loyola is the reigning Mission League champion and a three-time defending US Lacrosse California State Southern Section Champion. The Cubs have yet to face Oaks Christian the season, but will get their chance on Saturday after the Lions defeated No. 6 seed Westlake HS, 11-8, in the quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon. In the other semifinal match will be No. 1-seeded Palos Verdes (18-2) taking on No. 4 seed and Mission League rival Harvard-Westlake (12-5) at 7 p.m. A stream for Saturday's game will be provided by @laxratz on YouTube.
