Loyola’s Varsity Golf team opened up the season with a third place finish at the Servite Invitational today (Feb. 25) at Western Hills CC in Chino Hills, Calif.
It marks the fourth time in five years that the Cubs placed in the top three at the event hosted by Servite HS, with Loyola taking third place finishes in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and a second place in 2018. Twelve of the top boys golf programs in the CIF Southern Section were on hand today at Western Hills CC.
Loyola was led by sophomore Justin Lee ’21, who had a team low individual round of +2 and finished third overall in individual play. Lee won a playoff hole in the afternoon to take the third place medal.
The Cubs will gear up for three more matches in the next three days, starting with Crespi at Braemar CC on Tuesday (Feb. 26), followed by Windward on Wednesday (Feb. 27) at Wilson & Harding Golf Courses and rival Harvard-Westlake on Thursday (Feb. 28) at Rancho Park GC.
