Other teams in the Mission League will have to try again next year to defeat the Loyola Varsity Golf team, as the Cubs kept their unblemished league streak intact today with a win in the third and final conference tournament of the season. Loyola posted a team score of 364 at Lakeside GC on Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 30), securing its eighth consecutive Mission League Championship in the process.
Senior Daniel Nunez ’19 was 1-under on the day (69) and a pair of sophomores in Timmy Von Der Ahe ’21 and Justin Lee ’21 shot 1-over 71s. Senior Justin Wallender ’19 and junior Brian Arnold ’20 recorded a 76 and 77, respectively. Lee led the league with a 36-hole cumulative score of -3.
Additionally, all seven Cub golfers under head coach Robb Gorr have advanced to Thursday’s Mission League Individual Championship at Brookside GC in Pasadena (May 2) at 2 p.m. Following the league's individual competition will be the CIF Individual Regional Championship on Monday (May 6) and the CIF Central Division Team Championship competition the following week (May 13).
