The Loyola Baseball program has its sights set on Opening Day 2019, with all three levels of Cub Baseball in action beginning this Saturday (Feb. 9) on Hank Hernandez Field.
The Varsity team, under the direction of third-year head coach Sean Buller and assistants Mike Barnhill and Vince Fraga, will begin the season by taking part in the SoCal Invitational. Loyola will host Campbell Hall on Saturday at noon, followed by three games scheduled throughout the week against Sylmar, Culver City and Oxnard HS. Mission League play will begin on Tuesday (Mar. 5) with a three-game series against St. Francis, followed by another three-game series against Crespi beginning on Tuesday (Mar. 12).
The Junior Varsity and Freshman teams will face off against each other to start the season, before the JV team kicks off SoCal Invitational play against Sylmar on Tuesday (Feb. 12) on the road. The first Mission League action of the year for JV is scheduled for Wednesday (Mar. 6) against St. Francis, while the Freshman team hosts Chaminade on Thursday (Feb. 28) and St. Francis on Thursday (Mar. 7).
