Four Loyola seniors were named to the All-Mission League Basketball teams announced on Wednesday (Feb. 27). Senior forward James Keefe ’19 was one of nine players named to the league’s First Team, while a trio of senior guards—CJ Jones ’19, Anthony Lucenti ’19 and Neil Owens ’19—each earned Second Team honors.
Keefe, a 6-9 Stanford signee, led the Cubs with 15.6 points per game (8th best in league) and 10.8 rebounds per game (3rd overall). His 1.4 blocks per game average was also second in the Mission League, while the 16 double-doubles he recorded in 28 games was third overall. Keefe also led the league in offensive rebounds with 93 total.
Jones, a 6-4 guard, averaged 9.5 ppg, 2.8 jpg and 1.6 apg. The senior sharpshooter was 8th in the Mission League with 49 three-pointers made and his 9.5 ppg scoring average was good for 14th overall in the league.
Lucenti, a four-year Varsity team member, did a little bit of everything for the Cubs, averaging 6.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 3.7 apg to go along with 0.8 steals per game. The 6-4 guard’s 3.7 assists per game ranked him fourth in the league.
Owens, a 6-1 point guard, was 12th in the league in scoring (10.7 ppg) and added 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He finished fourth overall in the Mission League with 55 three-pointers made.
All four players were starters throughout the season, helping lead the Cubs to a 23-7 overall record, a CIF Quarterfinal appearance and a regular season Mission League Championship.
