After a close fourth quarter, the Cubs fell to Notre Dame 29-23. In the first quarter, P Diego Burgos ‘20 kicked a field goal to put the Cubs up 3-0, but the quarter ended 13-3, Knights. Going into the second quarter, Diego Burgos scored another field goal bringing the score to 13-6. The Cubs successfully faked a punt and the drive culminated in QB Brayden Zermeno ‘21 throwing a 42-yard pass to WR Jacoby Kelly ‘22 for a touchdown bringing the score to 16-13. Notre Dame scored again bringing the score to 23-13 and then Diego Burgos kicked another field goal for the Cubs to bring the score to 23-16 at half time. In the third quarter, Notre Dame kicked two field goals to make the score 29-16. In the fourth quarter, QB Brayden Zermeno threw a 35-yard pass to Jacoby Kelly for another touchdown, bringing the score to 29-23 and setting Loyola up for a comeback. The Cubs recovered a fumble on their own 48-yard line but were not able to score. In the final minutes of the game, the Cubs were charging, but the clock betrayed them along with an interception by Notre Dame that ended the game.
