The Cubs dominated their quarter-final game against Villa Park, ending with the final score of 45-28. The first quarter was fast-paced, beginning with Villa Park scoring a touchdown and putting the score to 7-0. Then the Cubs went on the offensive, and RB Harrison Allen ‘22 scored a touchdown, putting the Cubs on the scoreboard and tying the game 7-7. Villa Park made another touchdown, putting the Cubs down 14-7. Finally, RB Tajh Owens ‘22 scored another touchdown for the Cubs, tying up the game once again. In the second quarter, Harrison Allen scored once again for the Cubs, putting the Cubs in the lead 21-14 and ending the first half. In the middle of the third quarter, Villa Park scored and tied up the game 21-21. Then, KR Ceyair Wright ‘21 scored on Villa Park’s kickoff, taking the ball to the endzone for 95 yards and bringing the score to 28-21. This was followed by yet another touchdown by Tajh Owens, the score now 35-21. The Cubs followed up by forcing and recovering a fumble to get into field goal range, and K Diego Burgos ‘20 kicking a 33-yard field goal, putting the Cubs up 38-21 and ending the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Villa Park scored one final time, the score 38-28, and in the quarter’s final minutes, Tajh Owens ran in the ball, putting the score to 45-28 and sealing the Cubs win. The Cubs will advance onto the semifinals next week and play Camarillo.
