The Cubs will advance into the second round of playoffs after defeating the Bay league champion and automatic qualifier Palos Verdes 7-0. In the first quarter, neither team was able to score; but in the second quarter, RB Harrison Allen ‘22 scored a touchdown, bringing the score to 7-0. The score remained 7-0 at the half. In the third quarter, DE Joshua Long ‘21 forced a fumble and the Cubs took hold of the ball. The Cubs then fought to maintain their lead; and in the fourth quarter, they shutdown Palos Verdes, keeping the score 7-0. Sophomore RB Tajh Owens acted as a leading force on the Cubs offense and the defense was crucial in preventing Palos Verdes from scoring, ultimately shutting them out. Now, the Cubs advance into the second round of playoffs, facing Villa Park next week.
